Google tweaks search engine results algorithm for domain results
Aug 23rd
Just yesterday Google announced that they have made a few changes to its algorithm that will make it easier to find multiple pages from a single website or domain.
Some words from their blog – “For queries that indicate a strong user interest in a particular domain, like [exhibitions at amnh], we’ll now show more results from the relevant site” says Googles software engineer Samarth Keshava. “Prior to today’s change, only two results from www.amnh.org would have appeared for this query. Now, we determine that the user is likely interested in the Museum of Natural History’s website, so seven results from the amnh.org domain appear. Since the user is looking for exhibitions at the museum, it’s far more likely that they’ll find what they’re looking for, faster. The last few results for this query are from other sites, preserving some diversity in the results.”

“We’re always reassessing our ranking and user interface, making hundreds of changes each year” she goes on to add, Keshava then goes on to say “We expect today’s improvement will help users find deeper results from a single site, while still providing diversity on the results page.”
Will the search algorithm get it right?I think the changes may be a great More >
CSS Tutorial – stylesheets a survival guide to day#1

Ahhh css, in today’s online environment with web development we all must know at-least some CSS. Getting by as a developer today is on one hand easier with all the WYSIWYG editors, CMS and pre-made template websites but what if your want custom development? What if you want to get into the know of creating really well formatted websites? This is where i believe it is now 10 times harder than that of say 8yrs ago!
We now have to have a varied toolbox of such items as Style-sheets, JavaScript, Xhtml and other frameworks to name just a few of the things a good web developer must have a grasp on, today lesson we’ll begin sifting through some CSS or also know cascading style sheets (CSS).
The first time i laid my eyes on CSS was way back around 2000 or HTML 4.0 days, a friend had heard about css and we grabbed the latest copy of PC User and walked through a tutorial of how to change text styles with CSS. Just two lines of css and the text on my HTML web-page changed! I couldn’t believe my eyes, at the time development methods saw images, More >
When you should or should not use a website template
Jul 3rd
There has been the debate for many years now between web developers, web designers and many others business and personal, recently Digitalkreations started to produce custom website templates and themes for many different web platforms so hence why we should give our point of view on the topic.
Themes & Templates
Its a little like the debate between Holden and Ford, a debate that will go on for ever and always have hundreds of different points of view depending on whom your going to approach about the topic. I once heard my uncle advising a friend of his about buying a car, he being a avid HOLDEN man said “Ahh don’t buy a dirty old Ford the door handles always break, and this friend of mine had one and it constantly broke down on him…” blah blah blah. The same goes for a website template or theme, should you use one for your website?
I absolutely think that a beginner website owner or designer should use templates and even go out and by templates, I mean something that you might buy off ThemeForest or other like template selling services. Some good reasons to do so maybe as follows:
- Tweaking = knowledge & learning. Templates need to More >
